Esthetics is the study of the skin, its associated structures, skin diseases, and skin disorders. An education at Phagans School of Hair Design is designed to help you prepare for the Oregon state board and become a licensed skincare professional. We aspire to teach our students the necessary skills they can use to be successful both in school and after graduation. As part of our 600 hour esthetics curriculum, you can learn:
As a licensed esthetician, your career can fit into your lifestyle. Our staff does everything they can to help our students reach their goals and be successful.
Students progress through the course in levels. To progress from one level to the next, students must complete the required hours, required operations, written evaluations and practical evaluations for each level.
As a first step, you can expect to learn in levels. The first three weeks of our program is spent in a classroom setting where you can learn the basics in esthetics and practice on each other and models. This foundation is important to help each of our students feel prepared for the next steps of their education.
As a student, you can expect periodic written and practical evaluations.
After successful completion of the first 3 weeks of classes, students are assigned to the clinic floor to begin practice of practical skills and customer service skills. You can work with actual clients under the supervision of our licensed instructors, but that doesn’t mean classes are over!
Our more advanced students spend a lot of their time on the clinic floor learning how to provide amazing customer service, esthetics services, and more with help of their instructors.

To qualify to take the Oregon State Board written exam, which covers the subjects of the care of skin, esthetics treatments and body wrapping, temporary hair removal, make-up, lash & brow tinting and artificial lash application. In this course we prepare students to:
Student grades will be based on theory assignments, theory exams, practical assignments and practical exams. Students must achieve a grade of C (75%) or better to be considered acceptable according to the following grading scale:
